Authenticity Is Non-Negotiable

The trading card and collectibles market has a serious counterfeit problem. Fake cards, resealed booster packs, weight-mapped boxes, and altered memorabilia are real threats that collectors face every day. At Hobby Box, we have built every part of our sourcing, inspection, and sales process around making sure none of that ever reaches one of our customers. Not from our shelves. Not from our website. Not ever.

Every item sold by Hobby Box is guaranteed authentic. This is not a marketing phrase — it is a binding commitment backed by a specific, enforceable promise: if any item you purchase from us is found to be counterfeit, resealed, tampered with, or materially misrepresented with regard to authenticity, we will refund your purchase in full with no time limit, no questions asked, and no return shipping cost to you.

How We Ensure Authenticity: Sealed Products

All sealed products sold by Hobby Box — booster boxes, booster packs, blaster boxes, hobby boxes, cases, and all other factory-sealed trading card product — are sourced exclusively through authorized and legitimate distribution channels. We do not purchase sealed product from unknown or unverified sources, private individuals, or secondary markets where resealing is possible.

We physically inspect sealed product before it enters our inventory and before it ships. We know what genuine seals from Pokémon Company International, Panini, Topps, Upper Deck, and other manufacturers look and feel like. We know the weight ranges of legitimate product. We know the packaging details that counterfeiters get wrong. We will not sell a sealed product that does not pass our inspection.

How We Ensure Authenticity: Raw Singles

Raw (ungraded) trading cards and singles that come through our buy/sell/trade program or are sourced from collections are inspected by our experienced staff before going on sale. Our team handles cards every single day. We have developed the eye and the knowledge to identify the most common counterfeits on the market, including fake Pokémon cards, altered sports cards, and trimmed or chemically cleaned specimens.

For high-value raw singles, we exercise additional caution and may decline to sell a card we cannot confidently authenticate, even if we cannot identify a specific flaw. When in doubt, we err on the side of caution — for your protection and ours.

How We Ensure Authenticity: Graded Cards

Every graded card we sell is in its original, sealed holder from the grading company that issued the grade. We do not sell cards in cracked, resealed, or tampered holders. Every graded card carries a certification number that can be independently verified on the grading company’s official website:

PSA: psacard.com/cert
Beckett: beckett.com/cert
CAS: cas-card.com

We encourage you to verify any graded card you purchase from us before opening the packaging. If a certification number does not match the card you received, contact us immediately.

Grading Submission Services

We facilitate grading submissions to PSA, Beckett, and CAS for our customers. Submitting through us means your cards are handled carefully, documented accurately, and submitted through proper channels. We will advise you honestly on whether a card is worth the cost of submission before you commit — including telling you no when that is the right answer.

Our Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee

Standard return windows do not apply to authenticity disputes. If you purchase a card or collectible from Hobby Box and a credible third-party determination — such as a grading company rejection or a professional authenticator’s assessment — indicates that the item is not authentic, contact us regardless of how much time has passed since your purchase. We will review the evidence, and if the claim is substantiated, we will issue a full refund with prepaid return shipping.

This guarantee is our word, backed by our business and our reputation in the Brooklyn collecting community.

Suspicious Items

If you purchase an item from us and have any concern about its authenticity — even a vague feeling that something is off — contact us before opening the packaging or submitting it for grading. Send us photos and describe your concern. We will review it and respond honestly. We would always rather address a concern early than have a customer lose confidence in something they bought from us.
